Projects (Donations)

Over 1 Million dollars and counting! We donate all of our proceeds to Red deer youth. Want to see who we have donated to since we charted in 1986? We have donated almost 1.1 Million dollars and continue to raise money.

  • Central Alberta Women's Emergency Shelter (CAWES)
    • C.A.W.E.S is a charitable organization serving the central Alberta area. Our safe, secure home-like shelter located within Red Deer currently houses up to thirty six women and children at any one time for a maximum stay of 21 days or longer in special circumstances.

  • Children Services Centre

    • The Children Services Center in Red Deer is an organization that provides a resource for children who require special needs, or development assistance. Whether the needs are social, physical, intellectual, or emotional, the Children Services Center is there for our kids and as a support for parents.

  • Red Deer Boxing

  • Women's Outreach

    • Helping women who have chosen to pursue a safer, healthier and more secure life for themselves and their families.

CAWOS began in 1984 as an agency devoted to supporting women affected by family violence. This continues as a special emphasis today in programming, public service and public education. We help individuals meet their basic needs and find solutions to the barriers they face.

CAWOS provides basic needs and emotional support for individuals as well as providing education and support in specific areas such as domestic violence, family law, the effects of crisis on families, etc. Our model is to provide families a variety of formats in which to learn more effective coping skills and options for making positive choices in their lives and the lives of their families.

  • Youth and Volunteer Centre

    • The Youth and Volunteer Centre is a resource in Red Deer to assist families, which inhibit behavioral and relationship troubles.  It provides councilors to help, both parents and kids alike, as well as rooming for those ‘cooling’ down periods.

Another big program provided through the Y&V Center is 'Camp Alexo' run every summer in the foothills of the Rockies.

  • D.A.R.E. Program

    • The 'JUST SAY NO PROGRAM' was initiated to provide children in Grades 4 thru 6 the opportunity to better counter peer pressure associated with drug use. The first clubs of this kind, in North America, were organized in 1983. They were in Georgetown, Ontario and Phoenix, Arizona.

It was Optimist President Gary Harris that in 1986 saw “Just Say No” as a way to make our club’s very first commitment to the youth in the community.

  • Red Deer Regional Library

    • The Piper Creek Optimist Children’s Wing was made possible through our participation in 1992.  This Wing provides a resource area for parents and their children to utilize books, toys, and group story times among many other uses.

  • Red Deer Regional Hospital - Special Care Nursery

    • A project the Piper Creek organization provided substantial funding for in 1995.  A plaque of recognition can be viewed just outside the entrance to the Nursery where newborn babies that are premature, or in critical health are cared for.  This area provides parental suites so mother’s can remain near to their newborn child 24-hours a day.
